Program Description

Kinex Academy has been developing speed, agility and graceful endurance in children and youth since 1999 through our GoodSPORTS run training programs and Born to Run camps and Track & Field school enrichment programs.

We are please to be offering our new Kinex Kids Triathlon Camps to our summer camp program. During a typical week of camp, kids get all the information needed to participate successfully in the “kids” specific race on Friday. By the end of the week, they know how to shift, pedal, and control their bike effectively. They are aware of the need for safety in all of the activities. They learn to use a timing clock for swim workouts, learn how to do bike to run combos, transitions, the importance of good eating habits, good sportsmanship as well as have fun swimming, biking and running.

By the time Friday comes along, every athlete is confident they can successfully complete their race day goals. We have stressed the importance of participation as winning. As each young triathlete crosses the finish line, the smile on their face tells it all!

It is our goal to help these young athletes become more confident in their athletic abilities as well as have fun in the process!  By showing this as a lifestyle, we hope to impact young people to be active, caring and goal oriented individuals. All of our coaches have experience in racing triathlons as well as working with kids. We all love what we do and love to share it with others!

Format

Campers are grouped according to age and form groups of 8-10 campers. Each group is assigned a Kinex Triathlon Coach who oversees the kinex campers’ camp day. With ability and age appropriate groups, a limited student to staff ratio of no more than 10:1, and a group size of no more than twenty students each child is sure to get plenty of individual attention and skill development in running, biking and swimming technique. We will do run training at Tam High Track and local parks, we swim at Tam High Pool and do open water swimming at Sausalito Beach and we bike on the bike path between Scott Valley and Sausalito Beach. On friday we try our first triathlon and wrap up with a beach party.

2:45-3:00 p.m. Water & Snack Break
3:00 P.M. Kinex Camper’s Picked up
3:00 - 4:30 p.m. After Care Available (swimming)

Fees $325 per week
