Beginner: Urban & Mountain Biking

Fall Session - Sept 18- Nov 19 - 10 weeks - Wed - 1:00 -3:00 PM

Class Size: 6 per coach

Who: Students grades 3 - 4

Program Description

Required current riding ability: riding in flats on driveways and on bike paths with only limited or no road riding expereince. Capable of rides of around 3-5 miles with only small gradual uphill sections when supervised closely by an adult.

We will explore safe bike routes in and around schools, city parks and local bike paths. Children will be instructed in:

Urban Biking Safety

Bike Path Biking Ettiguette

Proper Gear and Brake Use

Safe Descent on Small & Intermediate Hills

Creating Safe Urban Bike Agility Courses & Games

Urban Bike Scavenger Hunt Games

Kinex Urban Bike Education Trainers (KUBETs) will be providing instruction giving riders the opportunity to develop safe urban bike riding skills readying your child for the step up to the Intermediate: Safe Urban Street Biking for school commuter training program. Of course all of this falls within the daily goal of your child having as much fun as possible.

Format

Bikers are grouped according to age and skill level forming teams of 6 athletes per trainer. Our trainers will meet 3rd and 4th children at Neil Cummins School gym right after school where we will begin and finish each daily training ride.

Fees: $350 for 10 weekly sessions 2 hours per class
